Dates: April 30
Location: Burnhamthorpe Library
The Hand in Hand Campaign is an event that hopes to raise awareness about youth homelessness in the Greater Toronto Area. Groups across the GTA will be collecting essential life necessities from their neighbourhoods to donate to Our Place Peel, a local youth shelter. Collections have already begun and the final day to donate will be, April 28th, 2017. On April 30th, 2017 we welcome anyone who would like to participate in our good turn to help sort through items or drop off donations. We will be meeting at the Burnhamthorpe Library, 650 Dixie Rd #101, Mississauga, ON L4Y 3V9, at 11:00am.
The Hand in Hand Campaign is an important event that helps youth become more aware of the reality for some people who are not as fortunate as they are. Homelessness can easily go unnoticed if you are not directly affected by it, but it is an issue that can impact anyone and everyone. The Scouting youth organizing this event are asking their friends, Scout Groups and neighbourhoods to donate to this worthy cause and provide much needed clothing, hygiene products and entertainment items to the youth in their community. Along with helping the youth in their community, they also hope to educate themselves and their peers on the reality of youth homelessness and more ways they can help. Our Place Peel is a safe place for youth to go and find the comfort that they need most. Our Place Peel relies on donations from the community in order to help them be a safe place for the youth in our community. Hopefully with this event, where youth are helping youth, we can help shed some light on this important issue in our community and ease the burden that so many face.
