Scouting Spring Clean-up on the Merritt Trail
1st St. Catharines, St. Catharines, Ontario
By Adia Buckle
For over 100 years, Scouts across Canada have demonstrated their concern for the environment through conservation, reforestation and, sometimes, cleaning up what others may have left behind.
That tradition continues during this year’s Good Turn with the 1st St. Catharines Scouting Group’s Spring Scouting Cleanup of the downtown section of the historic Merritt Trail on Sunday, April 26th, from 11am to 3pm.
The 1st St. Catharines has challenged their community to spring into action and help with the cleanup, and some heavy-hitters have stepped up: St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik has already accepted the challenge and will be in the middle of the action on April 26. The local media are on board, as well as a few surprise special guests — all of whom see the importance of pitching in and lending a hand.
If you can’t join the 1st St. Catharines on the Trail on April 26th, you need not miss out: They’ll be live-tweeting the event, posting on Facebook and spreading the word through all their social media channels. Watch for the hashtag #GoodTurn, and help spread the word.
… and no matter where you are, you can still participate Good Turn Week by lending a helping hand to a friend, neighbour or even a stranger. The challenge is on!
Great things happen in communities across Canada when our members put their hearts and minds behind Good Turn Week. It starts with Scouts.
