12th St. Albert Scouts – All Sections
Dates: April 29 or May 6 (TBC)
Time: 12 noon — 3pm
Location: Edmonton’s Ronald McDonald House of Charities / 7726 107 Street NW
The Ronald McDonald Charities Northern Alberta Center has been helping families with sick children for more than 30 years. The center provides families the comfort to concentrate on helping their child feel better, rather than worrying about food and accommodations. Since opening, the RMCNA has played a major role in more than 19,000 families’ lives.
The 12th St. Albert Scouting Group plans to bring comfort and smiles to everyone at the Ronald McDonald Center in Northern Alberta. To participate in Scouts Canada’s Good Turn Week, the Group will be hosting a Spring Fling Carnival. Each Section will have their own role and in the end come together to ensure the Spring Fling has a memorable and positive impact for these families.
The Beavers will be helping clean up the playground and wash their toys. They will also assemble the new play equipment for the playhouse such as small tables, chairs and a play kitchen. This is not only going to bring joy to the current families at the Center, but also for future families. Cubs will also be participating in this event by hosting penny carnival games and activities. These activities will be relaxing and fun for the families who need it the most. Along with carnival games, we will also have a bouncy house for everyone to enjoy. Scouts will be in charge of providing a delicious lunch for everyone attending the event. The full menu will be planned by the Scouts, they’re thinking maybe a barbecue lunch! As this is a carnival, we will also have fun snacks like, popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones. Venturers and Rovers will be doing spring cleaning around the outside of the Ronald McDonald Center. They will be raking, washing windows, wiping down outdoor play equipment and tidying the grounds from the snow melting. When they are done cleaning, they will donate the remaining cleaning products and utensils to the Center.
With all of the support from the Scouts, youth, volunteers, and the RMCNA, the 12th St. Albert Scouting Group is positive this good turn will bring a smile to all of the families staying at the Ronald McDonald Northern Alberta Center.
“It’s important to remember that everybody matters. That’s why you should do a good turn. I hope the families coming to the Spring Fling will be excited! I think they’ll enjoy the food and games, especially the bouncy castle because everyone loves bouncy castles. Kids who need help with their health still want to have fun.”
