1st Cobden Cub Pack
By Derek Smith, Youth Spokesperson
Orienteering and navigation have been a part of the Scouting program since its inception. This Good Turn Week the 1st Cobden Cub pack would like to bring that opportunity to their community with the act of presenting 12 GPS units to the Shaw Woods Outdoor Education Centre through Scouts Canada’s community project program. These devices will allow the Shaw Woods Centre to offer a more comprehensive and fulfilling orienteering and outdoor program.
To celebrate the day, on April 30th, 16 Cubs and Beavers from 1st Cobden will welcome 9 Little Brothers from the Big Brother organisation to enjoy a fun and educational day of geocaching and the outdoors at the Shaw Woods Outdoor Education Centre. Shaw Woods is a beautiful wooded area with a 14 km trail network perfect for those looking to explore nature.
Good Turn Week is an opportunity to treasure the impact small acts of kindness can make. Great things happen when those from the community get together to do good and we cannot wait for this cumulative joint project between Scouts Canada, the Boys and Girls club and Shaw Woods. This good turn will have a lasting impact on the community and continue to keep on giving for many years to come.
Stay tuned for more about this project as it continues to develop and all the Good Turn Week Community Challenge Projects as they are profiled over the coming weeks.
