As the time of year for Good Turn Week comes upon us, we look forward to a new tradition in the Wascana Area; this new tradition is portaging food and other goods to the Marian Centre in downtown Regina. This project was inspired by last year’s amazing Good Turn Week project that happened in the Manitoba Council called “Portaging for a Mission”.
This year’s project in Regina looks to collect and portage goods to the Marian Centre, a centre dedicated to assisting homeless men. Items including monetary donations, clothing, toiletries, food, and other assorted goods will be collected in the coming weeks. Donations will be portaged to the Marian Center on Friday, April 22 in the hopes of helping the homeless population of Regina. This project will be kicking-off Good Turn Week along with three other kick-off projects in Ottawa, Toronto and Halifax – what a great way to start Good Turn Week 2016!
During Good Turn Week thousands of Scouts from across Canada will be hosting other community events and project. You can view the “Good Turn Tracker” to view all the Good Turns happening across the country. You can participate as well and can find out more in the “Do a Good Turn” section of the Good Turn Week website. Join us this #GoodTurnWeek to make a difference.
